Clinical Anatomy of the Pelvic Floor: Cadaveric Pro-Section Lab Workshop for Physiotherapists

This workshop is intended for pelvic health physiotherapists.

This workshop will allow participants a deeper understanding of the pelvic floor and related structures as well as a true appreciation of the relationships between the visceral and musculoskeletal components of the pelvis, hip and intra-abdominal cavity. By the end of the workshop, participants will have increased their knowledge of pelvic floor anatomical structures and anatomy, be able to identify structures using anatomical pro-sections, and apply this knowledge to clinical conditions.

A list of the structures to be identified will be sent to participants prior to the lab and a lab checklist will be provided on site.

At the end of the anatomy review for rehabilitation clinicians, clinicians will be able to:

  1. identify three layers of pelvic floor musculature
  2. identify roots, trunk and branches of various nerves within the pelvis
  3. describe fascial relationships within the pelvic cavity
  4. identify pelvic visceral structures
  5. identify vascular structures within the pelvic cavity
  6. describe anatomical boundaries of the intra-abdominal cavity
  7. discuss anomalies and pathologies in presented specimen
