3D Printing for Occupational Therapists

This workshop is open to occupational therapists who would like to learn the basics of 3D printing and it's uses in occupational therapy practice.

During this full day workshop, participants will learn about Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printing and how it is used to create customized tools and adaptive devices. Participants will leave with one 3D printed adaptive device.

Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the Basics of 3D Printing: Gain a foundational understanding of 3D printing technology, including the different types of 3D printers and materials used.
  • Identify Applications in Occupational Therapy: Explore various applications of 3D printing in occupational therapy, such as creating adaptive equipment, orthoses, and prosthetics.
  • Design and Print Custom Devices: Learn the basics of 3D design software used to create custom therapeutic devices tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Evaluate the Benefits and Limitations: Assess the advantages and potential challenges of integrating 3D printing into occupational therapy practice.
  • Implement 3D Printing in Clinical Settings: Develop strategies for incorporating 3D printing into your clinical practice, including considerations for cost, training, and patient safety.

Important notes: 

  • Prior to the day of the workshop, participants must download the Prusa Slicer application from this website.
  • Participants will need to bring their own computers and chargers to the course.
  • iPads or other devices that are not compatible with the Prusa slicer application will not will not allow the participants to perform the workshop activities.

Cost:

Clinicians: 300.00

Students: 150.00*

*Students must show ID at registration.

Cost includes all materials, lunch, and coffee breaks.

Free parking passes will be available on request.

The number of participants is limited to 25 for this workshop. Priority will be given to registrations in order of receipt.

Language of Instruction:

The workshop will be presented in English. However, questions are welcome in both French and English.
