This course introduces the fundamental concepts and principles that pertain to the drug discovery and development process. Before a drug is tested in a clinical trial, there is a need to: identify a medical problem, discover and develop a drug, understand if the drug works and how, and decide whether it is safe to test it in humans. This course summarizes the process underlying drug discovery and development, leading to an investigational product being tested in clinical trials.
